Common but not Ordinary

"Don’t miss to bring tomatoes while coming back home" – voice of a wife on the cell phone of a old husband needless to say he is a common man and common man does only this. The major task of common man is to remain common even when the whole world undergoes an upside down situation and common man does it to death. He know no one will question him why he did not stop on a road accident, during the bomb blast, during the flood. He will never be questioned if he stays in "I-don’t-have-time" city MUMBAI.

But it did happen one fine day specifically one fine Wednesday in the city which never sleeps. It happened when one common man chose to be common still not ordinary.

Hindi cinema enters into Sisyphean act, at first instance if you know the plot of the movie (read as A Wednesday) is known to viewerBut, nay, it’s an epochal shift in the art/business/politics of movie making.

The way it is intertwined and then it unfolds, leaves a profound impression of what could be the better way to express the current turmoil in the history of mankind- Terrorism.Nevertheless, a cliché it never let you go down the memory lane of potboilers

How? Is perhaps a most important question at this stage but may not be the most pertinent one because the story is the essence and medium is the message (Ack: Marshal Macluhan)

Naseruddin shah never gets tired of perfecting a character with exactness seems to be improving rather than defying its own boundary. For me, the climax is just reminiscence of Alpacino (Scent of women) Its ruthless stupidity of highest degree to say that its because he is Naseer because not the name but the act of living up to that name which brings life to a fiction and becomes a shibboleth on the minds of audience.

Anupam Kher  who played "Prakash Rathod" is one of the few chosen ones who looks like a character more than anything else, whether he is a Anupam Kher we know or a Police commissioner hell bent upon not giving up even when he has no clue that he is doing right or its just his imagination of being right.

A good recipe unlike human body doesn’t have a vestigial ingredient so are the other links of the story. Jimmy Shergil (Arif)– an outrageous inspector and Amir Bashir (Jai) -a homely inspector with pragmatic approach to duty and life.

Rest of the characters are imperative as they are required to be.

It`s not a movie to inspire the nation, the media, the police or the polity but its just another view from the lens. Neither magnified not miniaturized just another possibility of second act.

With a finesse of what could be to what will be or perhaps the other way.

If I am any Judge, then I must not give any verdict on this movie, this is just exculpable. I can only stand and applaud the effort of Neeraj Pandey who conceptualized "a Wednesday". Balanced background score by Sanjay Chowdhury and cinematography by Fuwad Khan’s add to the perfection of movie without any nonsense factor.

It`s too good a performance and its presentation to be categorized of the scale of stars and rating.

I would like to end at a note which came while I was exiting the theater, how we all are busy leading life in a routine way till someone walks in/out "one fine day" and change the whole course and purpose of our life. It might be a Wednesday.. or any other day.

You want to wait for such day or ???
