After reading so many reviews on this movie of my favorite stars, I decided to go to cine pride once more. Frankly, time and money not wasted but I feel this story or feelings of the common man could have been plotted in a much more realistic manner.
Everyone acted very well, may be because this is everyone’s feeling. May be even more to the people of affected cities like Mumbai and Delhi. This is the feeling of the helpless people of India, irrespective of their religion and colour, who do not know when their nearest and dearest will become victims of terrorism.
Feelings of millions of Indians cannot be ignored and the writer does his best. Script is somewhat flimsy because of its unrealistic approach, like –
Is it so easy to import or smuggle RDX, that too six kgs?
Is it so easy to produce a mobile triggered time bomb?
Who planted bombs on the two benches in airport? Naseeruddin seems a lone common man.
Two interrogations; one by Anupam and other one by Jimmy. Very unrealistic
Once police said no one knows about Nashir but he is the master mind or strategist. But he is a lone common man as per the plot.
How TV journalist and crewmembers got into the airport without security checks?
Do you think our TV channels will keep quite once they watch some other TV channel showing it live; that to in-front of Mumbai Police head office.
CM in Police HQ during such incident! Impossible.(Recently during Delhi incident, according to a TV channel; HM was busy changing his dress…. Not once but thrice… getting wet too fast)
CM giving full authority to Police Commissioner to handle the situation. This type of delegation by our politicians to Police Officer is impossible. Does anyone can think wildly in our country?
Anupam’s secret conversation with officers’ in front of constables in many scenes
However, well spent 100 minutes. I was fully engrossed and may be first time in life I have not gone out during interval. Flow of story and movie is astonishing. Scenes I liked most-
Last 15 minutes: Long conversation between Anupam and Nasheer. Naseeruddin ran way with the winning medal.
When they meet each other at last; very unrealistic but I liked it
The hacker. Sweet cute boy. A school Dropper by Choice.(All scenes)
FIR scene. Biwi & Pressure cooker story and reaction by the officer and then calling Nasser as Jammu & Kashmir. Very hilarious.
All scenes of Jimmy Shergill: He is superb throughout the movie.
Dipal Shaw refuses to cooperate with the Cop and asking for detail - Childhood story of that terrorist in bus
Am I missing something? May be because there are so many heartening scenes
This movie raises few basic questions. Do we have answer for these doubts?
Technology used by our law enforcing bodies
In-house expertise by law enforcing bodies
Aam Admi taking law in their hand due to delay / inefficiency of authorities. Do we have tolerance to support it in true sense?
Delegation of authority to competent officers
What is the correct prescription for terrorism?
Any end to it
I have pointed out many doubts but this movie is going to pull lot of crowd everywhere due to its Aam Admi concern and the story. Inspite of too many flaws and wild imaginations its a good effort by the whole team.
A Wednessday is based on very sensitive emotion of the people and successfully commercialized. We may have to wait more to see a sensible movie. I wish, someone like Shyam Benegal to make to film on this topic.
*Hats off to Naseerbhai
