Answer:
Now relax. When you are sure that the rat is inside the mud-h0le, block all other ways with stone and put fire on the only exit. Put some chilly power etc. and you may give the comfort of a fan so that the smoke go inside the h0le, so that the rat have no option but come out. Be ready with a stick and you can see the rat come out…frustrated and helpless. You are well prepared and it is a matter of time you can kill the rat personally.
Watch A Wednesday if you want to see this capture of rats by a nameless common man. Who beat and use the system easily to make them helpless and kill those rats!
In the movie Vandanam in Malayalam, Priyadarsan has portrayed a character, a college professor takes this route to revenge the system. However, like Jaane Tu, the re writers absorbed the idea either from this film or may be its original (?) and wrote it brilliantly to make it merrier. The psychopath is been transformed as an ordinary man. The professor was reacting, but the common man become wise and pro-active. The professors anger was real and so was his action. Well, better I stop the comparison here. But till the very last 15 minutes I was expecting a climax like Vandanam which was quite different and superb as well. However, no doubt that this one is quite different where Priyadarsan added 1 hour comedy and romance where A Wednesday concentrated fully on action…almost like a climax of a movie. No nonsense is the first policy the makers set for this film. You are hooked to the seat from the moment the reels start rolling. Excellent back ground music hypnotizes you within few minutes and you are now part of the game, some how hating and cursing the character and staring in utter disbelief on the calmness he keep at it.
The Two heroes of the film are Script and Direction. Both were competent and good one to other. Excellent!!!
The veteran actor Naseruddin Shah looks so cool, well portrayed the central character with control and exploded like anything with great control again, limiting himself as a common man. Great performance!! Who stand equally tall with Naseruddin Shah? None other than Anupam Kher!! I really like this many national award winner for his ability to give the best each and every time he is on screen; fully dedicated to the character and situations. Even I felt Anupam Kher outperformed Naser but the climax kept the equation equal. Jimmy Shergill is the only other actor I believe did anything extra ordinary in this film. He was a surprise package. With the help from writers Jimmy rocks and rocks big time!!! Is this his best performance so far? I think so! All others did their role well and comfortably.
Cinematography was excellent. Editing was superb. Background scores were highly effective and top class.
The climax of the movie and the suspense is remarkable and the film will be remembered for its totality though we can point out many excellent situations.
The movie however doesnt bother to the background of the common man to give some insight of his thoughts. Also it is unclear who helped him to execute the plan. Also, the common man takes law in hand is only agreeable in films or in fantasy. If people start using the technique in real life, it is the end of peaceful existence. This is so, because a terrorist for a state may be a patriot for a principle. If a small fault in the execution, the common man will be in jail and his fate is pre-determined. In many cases people who are hurt by the state can use it to act against the state too. In fact this sporadic acting is the main road leading to terrorism. On that account, I wish to consider the movie as a fantasy. The solution in the movie is not a solution in itself, but the beginning of many problems. Also there are questions like why only a TV channel is been informed and why other TV channels didnt turned up even after breaking news in UTV??
On the positive side, the movie raises many issues which are relevant in todays society. The movie through the common man asks many questions which literally made the administrative system MOUTHSHUT. Yes, there are several relevant questions thrown up to the audience where hardly any solutions. The movie stresses on the importance of common man and his fears. If ever the suppression of common man can be pictured this is a good way of telling it. The movie decides not to give a name to the central character, which in itself made the movie different and hold its purpose pure. Because of this, one and all in the hall enjoy the movie with the same spirit.
I wondered what will Mumbai Meri Jaan looks like if the 4 or 5 affected people combined and organized such a Wednesday!!
This is good cinema. Go and watch it!
