When we drove into Welcomehotel Rama International, Aurangabad we were definitely surprised. To begin with, I am yet to find such friendly and smiling staff anywhere in the world(believe me, this is not an exaggaration). Right from the doorman to the reception counter staff, everyone smiled warmly and genuinely which is something one always misses in 5stars. This was one of the few places where we did not face the people in the reception who were either too busy to attend you or were speaking on the phone. Instead, they smiled and inspite of our not having a confirmed reservation, worked out a solution for us.
However, when it comes to the aminities, the place is really in a sorry state. This is the first time that we stayed in a 5star room having fryed carpet, rusting fridge and leaky taps in the bathroom. It gives you a feeling that you are staying in a Government run rest house more than a five star room.
From the cutlary to the chairs and tables in the rooms, one get a feeling that this property of ITC Sheraton has been showered with all reject products from all other Sheraton properties. No two glasses were similar, the morning breakfast cups and saucer’s did not match the plates. The spoons and forks had definitely seen better times - here or elsewhere.
But once you start looking beyond this, Welcomehotel Rama International is one place we loved. Probably you have heard the saying "A house is made of bricks and mortars but it’s the people who make it home". This fits perfectly for this property. The staff is just great. Everytime you walk down the corridor, you are greeted by the staff who are always willing to assist you. Look into their eyes and you know, the smile is not plastic. This puts a warmth in you thereby making your stay enjoyable.
The property is great and so is the building. We just hope ITC-Sheraton management looks into the dictionary and finds the meaning of the word renovation and acts upon it fast.
