I have just got back for the firt day of the Vodafone challange series match between the West Indies and Somerset at Taunton and I was not impressed by the Windies. They were resting Courtney Walsh, Ridley Jacobs and Curtly Ambrose, and playing Colleymore, Philips and Nagamooto in their placrs, and the bowling attack was simply awful. Somerset won the toss and elected to bat on a lovley summers day in the Westcountry. Jamie Cox looked in good nice and got 41, but Rob Turner and Piran Holloway never got going, scorring 6 and 1. Parsons then came in and hit a wonderful 155 not out with useful scores from Mike Burnes (55) and Peter Bowler (47), leaving Somerset 390 for six at the close. The West Indies bowling was normal at the best of times. Rose was all over the place with wides and byes galore like the Tests, the other seamers wernt doing anything and seamed very negative. Nagamooto the leggiee in the side has poor as well not varying the flight and pace and letting the batsmen dictate the play. Overall another sign of the Windies dismal season in the English tour
