Well worth the trip.

Hi all, Now that I have a car ( my fab indica v2 - review elsewhere in the site), natural progression demanded that the wife be taken for a ride. Now any married man will tell you a ’’ride’’ invariably means - SHOPPING!!!

Anyway to cut a long story short here we were on a saturday afternoon driving 40 km into downtown bombay to visit the only ’’westside’’ store in bombay - There are other branches in Pune, bangalore, Calcutta, and 7 other cities I am told. Anyway, we reached the place and my herat sank. Firstly the place looked fit only for crorepatis - atleast from the outside! so much style, I felt faint. Secondly, its on the main road! where the hell do you park????? then I saw a board - VALET PARKING . YAY! the chap took the car and whisked it away to the basement - no worries! well 50% less worries. hehe. We went in ant the first thing that hits you is that the place is well laid out. Thought it is only on one floor the segregation of departments is pretty good and seamless. I discreetly looked at the price tags ( admit it all married men out there - you do it too!) - but was pleasantly surprised. it wasnt as expensive as I thought. in fact some stuff was ridiculously cheap. I picked up kids tshirts for 99 bucks each. undies for 30 bucks a piece (ahem). Jeans for 900 bucks. The missus dived into ladieswear and snapped up nice trendy stuff again pretty reasonable - say approx 400 bucks for tops. We both really fell in love with the household section - its just too good and merits a review on its own! suffice to say cheap and good - coffee mugs for 30 bucks! My personal favs are the household section and the kidswear section specially the age group of 7 years to 14 years. really trendy and cheap stuff.

But the best was yet to come . they have an unconditional guarantee - in case anything fades / tears / shrinks unnaturally etc, just take it back with the bill and you can either get another piece or pick up anything else of same value...! I thought that showed a lot of confidencein their product . Shoppers stop does not have a similar policy- there you have to get the defective piece in within 45 days. to sum up. mens shirts from 499, kids clothes from 99 bucks (avg price though is 299). houseware from 30 to 1000 bucks . They even sell the same towels used in the Taj hotels (a little secret I know). trust me, inspite of appearances the place is real good value for money. P.s. They have some sale starting in jan, you bet I am going back for it.
