Lucky to be aalive

I am new to Bangalore and realized very quickly during my commutes back and forth to work that my car is akin to a coffin in this part of the world. So I decided to rent a scooter. After doing some internet research, I settled on Wheelstreet as a viable option as they offered the lowest rent rates.I proceeded to book the bike on their site for a total of one month and made the payment. Their customer support immediately called me and told me the address of the dealer and that I had to submit my original ID/document in-order to collect the bike. I had only my passport at the time and was a little apprehensive about parting with it( Best decision ever n hindsight! ). So I asked the guys at Wheelstreet to wait for a bit until I get my Aadhar card-it was due for arrival in a couple of days. They said they can wait but I would lose out on the number of days I would have the bike. I agreed to these terms.Anyway, after a couple of days my Aadhar arrived and I immediately called up the dealer of the bike and asked him his location so I could come and collect it. He said my bike rental had been cancelled and hung up on me, he sounded very grumpy and rude. He probably must have given the bike to some other customer thinking I was a no-show. I immediately called up Wheelstreet customer care and told them this. They said they will get back to me and hung up. After some time they called me back to tell me that there was a misunderstanding and that I could go and collect the bike.I was relieved and set out to the bike dealers garage/office in Kammanahalli. Once I got there, one of the guys working there pointed me across to his office. I walked into his office and told him that I was there for the bike. He said I would have to wait for some time as he was attending to other customers and turned away from me, I noticed that there was no else in his room and I assumed customers on the phone or somesuch. I went out of his office, found a chair in the garage and waited. Half hour went by swatting flies. I went to his office again to ask about the status. And thus the drama began! The man became angry and red in the face and told me I would have to wait at least 2 hours and said something about customers thinking bikes were like candy these days. I asked him to calm down, which turned out to be a mistake as he became even madder and charged at me while bobbing his head like a mad rhino. I tried not to run away and stood my ground. He came near my face and started gesticulating wildly with his hands. He was shouting incoherently and I could hear him say something dirty about Vogo’s sister and mother while his spittle ricocheted across my face. I was quite scared for my life but before things could turn physical, few of his employees came in and saved me from this man who had turned into a rampaging bull and led me out. They said he has been having bad tempers these days and his business was badly hit due to Vogo and Bounce.I realized that it was a good time to leave and left his office. I called up wheel street once I was a fair distance away and my heart had stopped palpitating, and told them about my ordeal. They listened to me and said they would call me back. They never did.The next day I called them up to ask about the status, they asked me if I was under the influence when I had gone to get the bike. I was shocked, I immediately said no. They said that the dealer complained that I was under the influence and that I had threatened his family. I tried reasoning with wheel street saying that though I liked to have the occasional pint of Bangalore's finest brewed beer, I was definitely not under the influence that day, and the last thing I would do was get into a fight with a local as I was new to the city. They refused to believe me and hung up.I had had enough and didn't bother asking for a refund, now I take a Vogo to commute to work. I would like to wish Wheelstreet all the best in all their future endeavors. #Blows rasberry#
