A hilarious portrait of love and life

The first time I viewed the movie When Harry Met Sally I was immediately struck out how interesting, humorous and romantic it was. Many movies address love and romance in such a contrived manner, but I truly feel this movie is ginuine and realistic.

When Harry Met Sally follows two individuals over the span of 10 years and the changes in their relationship. Sally is anal retentive, compulsive and yet oddly endearing. Harry is a chauvenistic know-it-all who grows older and a little wiser over the years. The story shows how their lives keep intertwining.

The movie begins when Harry and Sally have to roadtrip to New York together to begin a new life. Harry was dating Sally’s friend so she politely agreed to share the driving responsibilities with him. They hate each other. YOu will have to watch the movie to see how these two people meet again and again.

Meg Ryan is priceless as Sally. This actress has such a talent for playing off beat, quirky women who are just looking for love. Billy Crystal also brings something special to the role of Harry. Make sure to look for some strong supporting performances by Bruno Kirby and Carrie Fisher.

The plot of this story is interesting and the romance budding in the film never loses your interest. The writing is fantastic and I often found myself laughing, nodding my head in agreement or just thinking about how my life isn’t necessarily that different than the characters.

I highly recommend When Harry Met Sally if you are a fan of romantic comedies like While You Were Sleeping or Frankie and Johnny.
