I bought this machine 2 years back and the machine has given 3 major and 1 minor problem. Here is my painful story:
The machine started making unusual noise and we called up the service center. The technician arrived and said its the problem with the floor(Its not flat). We tried every thing possible(shifting to different place, adjusting the height etc) to place it on a flat surface. No improvements. I think my whole house is somewhat tilted and hence the problem!
Second time the motor stopped working. The technician replaced the motor with a new one. While replacing the motor he found that a piece of cloth was struck somewhere and he said that was causing the noise!
Third time the machine was switching on but I was not able to program it. As usual called the service center and the technician arrived. He said a sensor has stopped working. Somehow the sensor became wet and got damaged. I wondered washing machines are supposed to work in damped conditions and how come someone can design something so carelessly. I tipped the technician and the truth came out. He said this model has lot of complaints. Most of the time its because detergent and water gets into the electronics. He warned me that another common complaint is that the PCB may get burnt! He asked me to take insurance(Premium 1800 per year!). I did not take him seriously. I thought he might be giving these suggestions because I tipped him.
The technician was correct. The PCB is now gone. Smoke came out when we switched on the machine. This costs 3000. So far we had spent more than 6 thousand for the repair of the machine. We were not willing to pay three more thousand to get it right.
My family decided to say good bye to Whirlpool and buy something else. Soon we will be a whirlpool free(tension free) family!
