I bought this fridge on Mar 2014. The so called new unit was not so new, it had a dent and the key was missing, it looked like a returned piece. The service technician who came for installation said the fridge was new and it cant be a old or returned unit. He somehow convinced us.
The fridge was running with lot of noise and it produced lot of heat. Also, it took more current 3 to 5 amps approximately.
After 3 months there was lot of water oozing out from freezer door. We thought it must be some problem with the door gasket. But it was not so, the door itself was faulty and there was lot of gap and therefore the leak. The gaskets were somehow holding the door for three months, but regular use exposed the flaw in door.
Made a complaint in customer care, as usual the response was quick. Service technician came on the same day, and said its quite normal. He adjusted the gasket and went away. In a week same problem appeared again. This time I was not happy to get the fix, because the problem was because of faulty door. They agreed to replace the door. After two weeks of regular followup door arrived. But its of different color. Service guy tried to convince me with different color door. But, I refused to accept and wrote to customer care.
After 3 consecutive mails, I got reply. "we are looking into the issue"It seems the color was stopped and there was no stock. After one month of regular visit to service center, I got the replacement. The replacement is worse than the previous one. There is no cooling in refrigerator compartment, and full of ice in freezer. FYI - this is supposed to be frost free, but the freezer compartment is full of ice. There was lot of breaking noise coming from freezer.
There is a knob inside freezer which controls the air flow to refrigerator. I tried to turn it, and it just came off broke. Poor built quality. This must be the worst refrigerator in market. Whirlpool has started compromising on quality of product. I am not sure how to deal with this.
