I bought this fridge in 2005 March. The first one had some manufacturing defect and it was replaced after inspection. Within 3 years the compressor was gone and luckily it was under warranty. But again fridge being an essential facility in today’s world, the pains of the homemaker is enormous. Then just after 5 years(warranty period over), the compressor is not working. 5.5 years and 3 compressors!
Yes Whirlpool does not have their own compressors but take from the others(which are not so highly reputed and possibly China make). So imagine the dilemma of the owners.
This is not so with Samsung, LG, Hitachi and others.
Yes the fridge performs good till it works. But then, unlike our notion of 20 / 15 yrs of uninterrupted service, we are getting into throw away after 5 years!
