I bought this machine in Feb 2006 from Viveks in Indira Nagar, Bangalore.
The reason for choosing Whirlpool was that it being an American company will have better quality control and service over the more common and cheaper Korean companies.
But I am in for a major surprise. I will not call it a shock as the business in India has no ethics. Once the money has changed hands no has any obligation unless you move the courts.
The machine has been defective from day 1. The water tank is leaking and the heater does not work.
The service people visited my place 3 times and finally agreed that there is a problem but also said that some one else will come to repair.
Now its been 2 months since that point and no one turns up.
I complaint on the web site and it thanks me for the complaint and that it will be seen by the VP of customer support. Impact - I get a phone call saying someone will come to my place to repair it. THATS it. No one turns up.
I put a complaint to the corporate office in US. Impact - NOTHING. No one bothers.
Unfortunately we do not have a law in India which forces the seller to refund money if the consumer does not like it.
On the whole it has been a nasty experience. I spent Rs. 16, 000/- to get a product that does not work.
Do NOT buy Whirlpool unless you want to run to Consumer Courts to get your moneys worth.
Product Quality - Has major manufacturing defects. Leaking Tub and non working heater.
Usability -
Water outlet only from Right and not modifiable. Even basic models of other companies have this option. Did not even bother to check this as my 9 year old m/c had it. I assumed it will be there.
Includes soak by default for every wash cycle. This is irritating at times and delays the whole cycle time.
