The White Tiger

The White Tiger is written by Mr.Aravind Adiga. It was published in 2008 and it went on to win Man Booker Prize. While reading the book you don’t feel like keeping it aside and relaxing for a bit.

This book tell us the story about a young entrepreneur in India whose childhood name was white tiger.

Plot:

Balram Halwai( our white tiger) is a son of rickshaw driver and lives in Laxmangarh, Bihar.Since his family was poor he could not complete his schooling(though he was clever and intelligent and had received scholarship) and had to work in a tea shop in Dhanbad. Here in Dhanbad he joins driving class and soon Balram gets a break when he is hired as a driver for a wealthy man, two Pomeranians(Puddles and Cuddles), and the rich man’s(very unlucky) son Ashok .

Having recently returned from a stint in America, Ashok is conflicted by the corruption and harshness of life in India, and has to deal with his family’s unhappiness with his foreign marriage to his current wife, a member of a different caste.

As he drives his master and his wife to shopping malls and call centers, Balram becomes increasingly aware of immense wealth and opportunity all around him, and the contrast between the master and servant classes. Through these experiences, Balram becomes increasingly worldly and ambitious.

How Balram becomes a wealthy "entrepreneur" in India’s new technological society? How he emerges from Darkness to Light? To know more you should read this book.
