I stayed at Wild Canopy with a few friends on Oct 30 and Oct 31, 2006. This was by far the best holiday that I had had for quite some time. The resort (of 25 Acres) is in the eastern end of a 350 Acre coffee plantation. The resort is bounded by a solar driven electric fence, as is the boundary of the 350 acres.
Stay
====
The rooms are two types. One is the tree house (currently only 2, but the resort is proposing abother 6), and two luxury suites. If interested we can also ask for camping tents, but this is not advisable in winter and rainy seasons. I have stayed in the tree house and the rooms, and both are really good. Spending the night at a height of 40 ft, in the tree house surrounded by monkeys, birds, noises from insects and the darkness was an experience in itself. The rooms are deliberately priced a little high, to "keep the rif raff out", which I believe is a very good thing to do. This will ensure that people who really value this place and know the worth of the surroundings visit it.
Staff & Food
=====
The place is run by two ladies, Poornima and Jayanna. They are excellent hosts. The small stories of various adventures of meeting animals told by them are both interesting and funny. The rest of the staff are also really good. They go out of the way to make you feel comfortable and serve you in the best possible way. For all the number of questions and requests we made to them, there was never any hint of irritability on their faces or behaviour. The spread and the variety is also really good. Tasty food, clean plates, good water are some of the salient aspects of this place.
Last but not the least, the hosts have a 12 dogs, a golden retriever, Gordon setters, Great danes, etc. Just fablous animals..... I fell in love with them....
Safaris / Treks
========
We went on one Safari and one Trek during our short stay in Wild canopy. We were accompanied by really enthusiastic staff who were as keen or more, than us to spot wild life. Both are a must for the are a must for any person who vistis this place.
Animals
==
We spotted Elephants, Bison, Deer, Wild boar, Peacock, Langur, Malasian Squirrel. Much as we wished to spot a wild cat, this was not possible. I guess our stay wqas too short for this. A lot guests before us have spotted the tiger and other cats, so this is an incentive for going back.
Overall this is a paradise for wild life enthusiasts. For people who cant enjoy quiteness, wild animals and nature, this is not a place for them. For me and my friends, we are definately going back as soon as possible.
For anyone who reads this and takes the trip, believe me you will not be disappointed.... Cheers.....
