Without European Traditions

Dr. Alan Taylor received his Ph.D. from Brandeis University. He has written eight books about the colonial American history, two of which brought him the Pulitzer Prize. There were "William Cooper’s Town" and "The Internal Enemy". In the story of the frontier village "William Cooper’s Town" Alan Taylor studies lives of Judge William Cooper and his sun, famous novelist James Fenimore Cooper. The father played a leading role in the moving to the West. In his novel "Pionners" Fenimore idealized the colonial America. In his introduction to William Cooper’s Town, Alan Taylor said about synthesis of three distinct genres-such as biography, social history, and literary analysis. I strongly recommend to study this work for better understanding the modern American national character, especially, the constant desire of a new frontier.
