This book is probably the most interesting book I have ever read. The way Taylor combines biography, local/national history, and literary criticism of his one of America’s leading authors is breathtaking. I flipped page after page as each page presented a different side of the story.
A great insight into how the American frontier shaped and changed, how people and politics changed. It’s amazing that this book is dated enough to be a textbook and yet reads like a novel.
