Its a product which was most anticipated and after its launch has proved itself in many aspects with some hiccups of-course in it way.
The redmond giant announced it in September14 to the public with a small demo of product to show the forgotten capabilities of A PC. This iteration was a new trump card to the WINDOWS NT lineup. Hopes were high with this product as people had mixed response to the tablet type start screen and its metro UI apps.
And finally Microsoft announce it in July 2015 to every genuine Windows 7/8 users for free for first year which will expire on JULY 2016 thus upgrade as soon as to can to enjoy the crispiness of the OS.
As described by microsoft as universal application architecture, thus providing a unified experince from smartphone to PCs and other windows 10 supported devices which was a major plus for all app developer as they can easily code their apps which can perform well on smartphones but also too well on larger displays like PCs.
After seeing the mixed review over the windows 8 UI which was more helpfull in touch oriented devices Microsoft overhauled the UI to both mouse and keyboard one(seen on windows 7) and if you have a touch enabled device u can use it in Tablet mode(similar to windows 8) thus cheering up both aspects of Windows where Windows8 lacked.
New features in Windows 10 were Virtual desktop system, called Task view, Microsoft edge browser which certainly lack the like of extensions but is really very nice to use and even out speed googles own Chrome browser. has added support for Windows Hello a login feature which uses either your Windows hello compatible camera or a fingerprint reader thus specific hardware are required for those to work.(but I would love to see it work with common web camera also under some developer mode just to play with). Some new feature for enterprise environment(not concerning me anyways) and the best part DirectX12 and WDDM 2.0 to improve graphics.
And with the november Update It has given a unified shortcut menus throughout the OS with addition of cortana to many countries including INDIA.
Why should you upgrade to it if already not done?
gets way more updates and bug fix I have seen on any other OS(but there is a catch microsoft dont give you the power to choose what to update what not to which can be a plus for some one like me u crave for overall performance irrespective of updates)
Lifetime support for users(well exactly I dont know how long that means but may b microsoft will tell me seperately for my knowledge)
Cortana a best AI to perform essential and important task in a fun loving manner and it even tells you joke which are nice but still in its initial phase a much is expected from it over the likes ok SIRI . and even cortana doesnt know how to shutdown a PC, I have to do it and many other essential tasks manually.(nice touch there microsoft you dont want us to become lazy I suppose)
Talking about the graphics well I have seen a huge improvement in graphics performance on same machine in terms of game play. Games playable as low setting on windows 8 have drastically been playable at Mid setting on Windows 10 which is a delight I dont know how this happened but Microsoft you nailed it I suppose.
and very happy to see xbox integration though its still on a costly side to buy one in India.
Privacy concerns were too criticized by users but hey guys which OS doest send diagnostics to its manufacturer, Its just microsoft told you that its doing u start to criticize it. But hey cheer up microsoft got something for you too u can choose privacy setting under setting>privacy>feed back & diagnostics to basic if you concern over it then.
So if you havent upgraded do so specially from Windows 8
But certainly a note newer hardware will give you more pleasure to run it over older one, for e.g. if you dont have a precision touchpad you lose out way more features and this OS will taste dull. Thus keep that in mind! And think over it you need a newer hardware or just an icing for your newer cake.
