Stay away from Vista....

Its been a while since I wrote a software review but I guess I really need to pen down my thoughts on this great new piece of "innovation" (Read meaningless graphics) Jhing Bang from Microsoft.

I have been a user of the PC/MAC alike right from the days of windows 3.11. The real revolution in time was Windows 95/NT 4.0. All other versions so far (98, Me, Xp, 2000, Vista) are just a more colourful version of the same release (Windows 95/NT 4.0). And vista just adds a lot more nagging interface to it.

1 )Microsoft continues to bring out its bunch of third grade products again and again. Guess what, remember the "copy" progress bar that showed a blue percentage bar below and two folders with animated papers flying in between.. well in Vista its a Hi Definition animation with some pretty futuristic looking stuff (glassy effects and all).

2)I tried to create a simple network to hook up two laptops running vista over Wireless Lan (WiFi) and all I got was a long list of question/ dialogue boxes and ultimately "Network not found" when I searched for the network I thought I had already set up.

3)I try to share a folder over a network.. again the same junk dialogues and end result  ... folder not found on the network.

4)The explorer has some transparent borders, some cool looking "gadgets" which are absolutely useless to anyone. The do nothing but hog processor power.

Overall Vista is just a failed attempt by MS to keep up with the new version of Mac OS which is shipping with Laptops/Desktops powered by intel processors !.

A casual look into Mac OS X will easily reveal that vista has merely tried to "lift" off features and looks from the User Interface of Mac OS !.

Guess what the age old 3D chess game in Mac OS has finally found its counterpart in Vista . The major innovation is the material of the chessboard in Vista ("Porcelein" in Vista instead of Glass in Mac OS). Laugh Out Loud, roll on the ground - do yourself a favour and stay away from Vista.
