Ok...so Microsoft has launched their new OS, Windows XP. Before you run out and buy it...read this. Windows XP, basically is a hyped up (isn’t every MS product hyped up?) version of Windows 2000. Yes it has a very cool interface, but you basically get the same interface on 2000/98/ME using programs such as Window Blinds and such. It comes with Internet Explorer 6, which has some pretty useful additions.
If you already have 2000, dont even think of upgrading. It is just not worth it. If you are running 98/ME then you can as well buy XP. For gaming, XP is far better than 2000. All my games played without a glitch. This is one area where it beats the 2000. Another thing to remember, especially if you are upgrading from 98/ME is the driver availability for your hardware. Most 2000 drivers should work, but this is no guarantee! Check up the Windows Hardware Compatibility List (WHCL) for XP on MS’s website. On the whole a good choice to upgrade from 98/ME, provided you have the required hardware. Dont upgrade if you have 2000.
