Wings of Fire is an Autobiography of Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, written by Arun Tewari.
Dr.Avur Pakir Jainallubdin Abdul Kalam is a recipient of the Bharat Ratna, Indias highest civilian honour. He had previously been awarded the Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan. More recently, Dr. Kalam has been nominated as the candidate for Indias Presidency by the National Democratic Alliance and Congress parties, a well-deserved honour.
This book may by far be the most inspiring auto-biography published in recent years.
Dr. Kalam calls to each of us to give Wings to the divine fire we have within ourselves, and fill the world with the glow of its goodness.
The book is biographical, but it is also about Science and Technology. Dr. Kalam writes about a sculpture he saw at NASA where he was initiated into Rocket Engineering, "a charioteer driving two horses, one representing scientific research and the other technological development, metaphorically encapsulating the interconnection between research and development."
Under Dr. Kalams leadership, Indias Defense Research and Development Organization(DRDO) and the Indian Space Research Organization(ISRO) achieved some of the nations highest goals. This book is also about the lessons Dr. Kalam learnt about managing teams and motivating people working on technology projects. About innovative, inspiring, and mentoring people.
The book is divided into four sections - Orientation(1931-63), Creation(1963-80), Propitiation(1981-91) and Contemplation(beyong 1991). Thank you.
