It was my first trip to Pune yesterday. I was recommended this Taxi Service by the staff of the GH I was staying in. I booked a cab at 1600 hrs yesterday to drop me from GH to Airport at 0430 hrs in the morning today. The voice at the other end was pretty sure about the pick up point and confirmed the booking by saying that a sms would be received immediately. It also said that vehicle/driver details would be sent 30 minutes before pick up time.When no sms came in an hour, I called up their no. again and the phone was picked up after an interminable wait. The voice at the other end said the confirmation would be sent by sms immediately and repeated the transaction details that had been originally conveyed so it was a bit reassuring. But, some doubts did creep in because that sms was still elusive.
Today, in the morning, again no sms came till 0415 hrs. I called up their given no. and it was not picked up for almost five minutes. Finally, someone picked up the phone at around 0420 hrs and conveyed the phone no. of the driver. To my utter shock, that driver’s no. was out of range. Then, a call came from another no. asking me where is the pick up point.It was already 0430 hrs. I was aghast because this was my first trip to Pune and being a non -Marathi speaking person, I was at a loss of words to explain the location to the caller. Incidentally, the location was one of the most prominent locality of Pune and that too on the main road. I rushed dowm from my room and had the security guard speak to this person to explain the location.
The caller said he would arrive in five minutes but when more than ten minutes had passed, I started panicking because my flight check-in time limit was only fifteen minutes away. There was not a soul or auto/taxi around who could have helped. Somehow, an auto without lights appeared from somewhere and I reached the airport in the nick of time.
There was no call from the driver of Wings Taxi or from the service provider itself. Such callousness.Maybe, I should have looked up mouthshut before booking for taxi from this unimaginably unprofessional service provider.
