I had booked the Wings Cab for Monday morning (22 April 2013) from Magarpatta to Pune raiway station at 5:15 am since we had to catch Mumbai train at 6 am. I was fed up with regular arguments with Pune’s autowallas for meter rigging, half return (never ending list). Hence I had started booking Wings cab. I received the message from Wings as usual earlier in the morning that the car no. is MH-12-GZ-0643, Driver name : Premkiran Uttam Kamble . His mobile no. - 8421914185.
Driver showed up at 5 am. We started at 5:15 as scheduled from Magarpatta. The only mistake I did was did not bother to check if he had started the meter (Actually he did not have the meter in his taxi). Now Magarpatta to Pune is hardly 9 kms (standard route via . So the bill should be 180 rs as per Wing’s rates (plus 30 rs road tax which you have to pay). But on reaching station, driver asked for Rs 240.
There we realized that taxi did not have any meter. He started showing me the km reading as 11.9 on tachomater. On asking, why you did not show me zero when you started, he said he thought I know it. Fortunately, we had 15 minutes buffer for the Mumbai train. Hence we called call center. The guy spoke to driver and told him that on Google map it shows 8.8 km. On which driver rudely said, it must be different route. So finally we had to settle for 180 rs (plus 30 rs toll which I had already paid).
I think, Wings (or drivers)? Have started rigging the meters like Pune’s autowallas. So anyone travelling by these cabs, please make sure that they have the electronics meter before starting the journey. And never travel by this cab (registration number given above).
