Wintech Computer Education made a splash into the world of computer training institutes with huge full page advertisements in national newspapers and initially they did a great job of establishing themselves in the market as a premier computer training institute.
But the fact is that they are nothing but a bunch of cheaters. I had enrolled for the E-Commerce course with this institute when they launched this course in 1999. I was told by the counsellors that it would be a 6 month course and would be over latest by August 2000. Well. its March 2001 now and the course is still on. The e-commerce classes started on December 27, 1999 and they started off with HTML, Javascript and ASP. As soon as we finished this part we were told to make a project i.e. a website of our own incorporating these 3 features for a presentation. I worked day and night ( I got a comp at home) and till date no-one has bothered to ask about this project.
The second module called ’’Technologies behind E-commerce’’ was done by a faculty member who had no idea what e-commerce is. The classes were taken as if were attending a history or geography class and it took a whole lot of complaining on part of us students to get a change of faculty. We managed a new faculty and realised we had jumped from the frying pan into the fire. It was just a change of face of faculty but the knowledge level was same. The second module consisted of technologies like COM/DCOM, Java , CORBA. COM/DCOM was finished in 4 hours, JAVA in another 4 hours and CORBA in just 2 hours.I dont expect them to teach me the whole of JAVA but a friend of mine doing e-commerce from another institute said they had JAVA classes going on for 2 months and he was also doing the e-commerce course.
After spending years in Wintech I have seen a few of my batch mates become faculties in the same center!! A batch mate of mine is teaching ASP now and when they started with the last part of e-commerce (Oracle Internet Commerce Server or OICS)in the first week of march, I realised that the faculty taking the OICS was a former batch mate of mine who had finished the course a few months back!!. ( he finished before me because I took a break from the course to give my CA final exams in november 2000). By now, Wintech has realised that splashing full page advt in papers is one thing and completing the course is another.They seem to be fed up with e-commerce and in general with the classes. I am now being asked to furnish my original fee receipts so they can prepare the certificates for me. What the hell!! why do they need original fee receipts?? Isn’t it enough that I have been a student there since 1999 for a course that was to end in August 2000?? Another money minting idea from wintech was when I told them I would be taking a break from the course for 3 months to prepare for my CA exams. The center in-charge said I could take a break for as long as I wanted provided I paid them Rs.500 as break charges.
This institute is nothing but a rogue institute and the only thing they want is money. I have already exposed the way in which they choose their faculty and needless to say my advice is not to touch this institute even with a bargepole!!
