I was in Accenture Services Pvt. Ltd. before joining this company. The only reason I left that company is because I did not like the job profile. Else, there was no issue with the company. I got a call from a consultant from Pune for Wipro. I asked them to forward my resume to Wipro(Thinking that Wipro will be nice company to work with). I got a call & got selected & got the salary I asked for. Till now everything was fine. Once I joined the company, for first few months(2.5 months to be precise), everything was fine. Everything was going good.
After 2.5 - 3 months, I got an assignment to complete. I had to setup a full monitoring in one of the clients client. Since, in Accenture, I was in Level 1 support guy & never did this type of job, but here in Wipro, I was meant to do that, I was a bit scared because I was not being provided of any test servers & I have to do everything in Production servers. Still, I took this challenge & finished the job well in time. I got appreciations from the client as well. They started giving me more job of this type including configuration & troubleshooting. I started doing that & used to finished well in time & after every critical work, I used to get appreciation from client, which I used to forward to my Manager. When the servers went live, there were a few hiccups but apart from that everything was fine & I got rewarded by the client for this, which was inturn came to me from my manager.
But at the time of appraisal, I got a rating of "Needs Improvement" from my manager. When I asked the reason, he said that I have many escalations from client. What rubbish? I asked him, if thats the case, why you havent forwarded those escalations to me & why are you telling me now instead of telling me that time when you recieved the escalation. No answer to him. Then I asked him to forward me those mails & let me check what are those escalations? He simply refused stating, client havent send anything in written but told me on phone. How is that possible that client is esacalting one issue without writing?
This is not the case with me. This happened to many employees who were hard workers & refused to do chamchagiri of their managers. All those who did, got good hikes with at least a promotion within a year.
Not only this. One of my colleague, who was employed with Wipro for 5 years(Intially with BPO then got transferred to IT company), got fired in no time, & they gave the reason as unethical behaviour by him. But in reality, he was the best behaved guy in that whole project. He used to respect everyone, used to talk nicely & to my whole tenure I never saw him loosing his temparement on anyone. Then how come tha guy is Unethically behaved?
This company is full of managers who want others to do chamchagiri with them. Those who dont do, gets the result like I & my colleague got. NEVER EVER JOIN THIS COMPANY. But yes, if you are not getting any other offer, better join this, get exp of around a year and a half & get lost.
Few good things about this company:
They give you all the options to save your tax. They have very good options like to become club member etc.
Regularly, trainings sessions will be conducted for various stuffs like ITIL or future leader program etc.
Regular sessions by doctors for various types of common problems.
Doctor service will be avaiilable from 9 to 6.
But, their cons are even more. So, its better to keep this company as a last option to join.
