Story lurking in the pages of history

Witch child, a compelling story about a fourteen year old girl, Mary Newbury who is about to encounter life threatening accusations when her grandmother has been accused of being a witch. To escape the same fate as her grandmother, she flees England to join the American coloney settlement to escape the eyes of those who want to persecute her. Mary makes good friends among the American settlers and among some of the native Americans, but she never tells anyone about her true nature, because she knows that they too will persecute her like those back in England, but this time, there will be no place to run. And it wont be long till they, like the Englishmen, put two and two together, and realise that there is a witch among them.

Mary, like any fourteen year old writes in a diary. About her friends, her lifestyle, and about how long she can’t keep running.

Witch child has been classified as one of my favourite novels. It is a book which you can’t put down, and it’s also very easy to read, yet very detailed and well written. It’s a great book for children or young adults, and should be read by everyone. And if you are interested in history, you will deffinatley like this book.

Wich Child is a book I cherish because it’s the book that first got me into reading, and I’ve loved reading ever since.

And if you read this book and found you really enjoyed it, then there are other Celia Rees books that I thoroughly enjoyed. These books are;

. Blood sinister-Celia Rees

. Soul Taker-Celia Rees

. Pirates-Celia Rees

. And the sequal to Witch Child, Sorceres-Celia Rees
