I am not sure what attracted me to listen to this album, may be upcoming Shiney Ahuja or cover of this album or get a sneak preview of this elusive movie, whatever it was ...I liked two of its songs immensely...
1.Chal chale...by James...a whole lot of new singers are coming these days, but this is a good discovery.His voice is heavy and leaves its impact.
2.So Jaoon main....by Shreya Ghoshal...who is always good no matter what, song is sung with great expression, this song’s male version is by Kunal Ganjewala which is good but not as good as Shreya’s version.
There is another song which is shown in movie’s promos that is Kya mujhe pyaar hai, lagta hai khuda ka koi nek iraada hai...by KK is also good, I have never heard KK singing such kind of song, its good he has tried, It has a remix version also for obvious reasons.
Another three songs, one having two versions , I don’t know why, because both sound same, its tu jo nahin 1 and 2...by another new voice Glenn John and bin tere...by Javed Ahmed sound like AIR’s ’sugam sangeet" kind of songs , very dull and cliche, sometimes sounding like a ghazal of radio stations, also one of the tu jo nahin...version uses same opening musical instruments as in ghar se nikalte hi, kuch door chalte hi....from PAPA KEHTE HAIN and a middle musical piece , same as used in agar tum mil jao....from ZEHER.Very clearly they have done a mix-n-match...Pritam is a good music director , but he should refrain from this.
