“A good companion”- will be the best phrase to describe Womans Era.It has got all that a woman needs to know……from articles on health, beauty & family matters to cookery & short stories. Published twice a month, it makes a good buy at Rs 30/issue.
I first read Womans Era before 5 years during a long train journey and it has remained my all time favorite magazine since then. The first issue I bought was a cookery special and the cookery section in Womans Era has always maintained a very good standard. The recipes are quite easy to follow and even a beginner can make wonderful dishes without any fuss. For those who love fiction, there are several short stories, most of them conveying good messages. The stories are written in a very informal way that anybody could read and understand them.
They always publish very informative articles on health & fitness and also medical news from all over the world. The home remedies are quite useful and comes very handy in many occasions. There are descriptive write-ups about the latest technologies in the field of health & medicine. You can find helpful articles on beauty and make-up. The family related issues are always written in a very professional manner with strong emphasis on the great family bonding found in Indian society.
Interactive columns like Personal column, Child challenges, Teen ache etc has professional advices given to the readers queries. There are columns dedicated entirely to the readers like Campus Rumpus, How I Met My Husband, Gratefully Yours etc where the readers get to share the memorable moments of their lives with other readers.
For those interested in Bollywood news, there’s Bombay Filmdom. There are also reviews of regional movies depending for which region of India it is published.
The New launches section has the advertisers introducing their latest products. There is a classifieds section as well. Articles on fashion, tourism, environment etc also can be found. They also provide photo features on fashion as well as News in Pictures. The Editorial also makes interesting reading.
Womans Era covers almost all aspects of a woman’s life.It deals with the day to day life of the common Indian Women unlike other popular magazines which focusses on gossips and movies. Its of good help to newly weds too. To conclude, I’ll say that Womans Era makes the reading time informative as well as entertaining not just for Women alone but for their male counter parts as well. Those interested in light reading may certainly like it. Its really worth reading and it’ll be a good option for all those who would like to read something other than political matters and film gossips.
