What and where is "Wonder La": It is an amusement park situated near Bangalore, about 25 km from the city. They claim it to be Indias biggest amusement park.
Rates and transportaion: They charge 380 per person on weekdays and 480 per person on weekends. The rates are different for kids below certain heights. They have transportation facility also, their buses pick up from varios locations in the city. You can even go by your own vehicle. The road is decent upto WonderLa.
How and why I went there: I went there as part of CISCO Systemss my BU day. We went there by special buses arranged by CISCO. Before I start writing about wonder-la let me tell you, I have been at Amoeba (Bangalore-church Street), RamoJi Film City (Hyd), Pink-Perl and water-kingdom (both in jaipur), so in my whole description I would be comparing it with these parks only.
The Amusement Park: Well, its not that big as the RamoJi Film City but it has most of the things which you can expect from an amusement park. It has many more thrilling rides than that of Ramojis and others I have been earlier.
Rides:
There are in total more than 40 type of rides. Few of them have been categorised as high-thrill rides. And when they say its a high thrill, they really mean it. :-) I have taken more than 150 snaps of all the rides and I relloct every moment when I see those pics. Well, all the rides are classified in these two categories:
a. Water Rides:There are at least 20 different types of water rides. Here they have light rides like dropping you from little height in a swimming pool and water splash. They thrill rides like a gentle push from some 3 storey building height, you would be laid down on a rubber sheet which in on a machine surface, you would be lifted from bottom side by the machine. At that point of time if you look down you would be highly thrilled and then they will give you a gentle push and you would come down on the water with crazy speed. They have rides in bothopen and closed water tunnels.
b. Dry Rides: It has light rides like Lion- and rides like vertical-drop (they would make you sit on a bench with 8-10 other ppl and take it up. Then you would be dropped multiple times from different
height. Sheer role of gravity.), techno-ride (they make you feel every possible force which you have read in book centrifugal, centripetal and wat not). Likewise they have Insanity, mavrick and many more. You would really feel thrilled before, while taking, after taking the ride.
Kids: There exist smaller version of many rides for them including vertical drop, toy train etc. so many things for kids also to enjoy.
Ladies: They have separate swimming pool for ladies.
Food: There are three restaurents two inside and one just outside of the park. The rate here are very nominal and comparable to what you normally get outside. One of the restaurent inside is mainly South indian style and the ther one is multi-cuisine.
Sea Waves: This is also one of the attractions. I liked it very much. Almost the same effect as a sea (provided you close ur eyes). :-)
Other Games: They have other games like trains in caves and crazy-cars (go karting). They have one ride at the height of some 90 meters. You can see whole wonder-la from there. It goes pretty smoothly completely one revolution in more than a minute.
Laser and water Show: It is like a bonus package here. When you get tired of all the rides, you can actually come here and enjoy the laser and water show. It is for 30 min approx. But the quality is not as good as I had seen many others (specially one which I saw at Hyd near Hussain Sagar Lake).
Dealy Mission: they have something called deadly mission which is a 3D movie effect. Its about 30 min long and pretty interesting. I liked it very much.
Auditorium: They have two auditoriums also. Each can accomodate some 300-400 ppl in it.
Abstract: Overall it was pretty good to be there. I enjoyed a lot there. If you are in bangalore, then it is d-best choice, not sure about othe cities though. You can spend your whole day there. It is good for family events, it is better for adlut friend groups. It can also work well for corporate outings.
