On Monday, a 19-year-old woman gave birth to Worlds Heaviest Baby Girl in Hassan, Karnataka. The yet-to-be named baby girl weighs 6.8 kg, almost the same as an average six-month-old.
"In my 25 years of experience, I have never seen such a big baby. She is a miracle. I believe she is not only the heaviest baby born in India but the heaviest baby girl ever born in the world, " local health officer, Dr. Venkatesh Raju said.
The doctors were concerned as the mother Nandini weighs 94 kg and has diabetes. However, the baby turned out to be healthy and "does not have any health issues like irregular sugar levels or thyroid, and is breathing well."
Dr Poornima Manu, who delivered the baby, said, "The surgery took place for nearly half-an-hour and it was free of any risk. She is really big and beautiful."
The Guinness Record for the worlds heaviest baby is currently held by a baby boy born in 1955, who weighed 10.3 kg at birth.
