First of all woodland shoes are not cheap and so, not suitable for India. Here most of the people buy things on bargain price and not on quality but on colour. Woodland has its trademark styling but not available in attractive colours. Mainly colours are Camel, Olive green, Tan, or black/brown. Newest addition is a weatherproof camouflage colour(which I have not tried yet). I am a fan of Woodland my whole life and own 3 pairs, but still I will say a word of caution to potential new buyers "being inside a Woodland means you are inside a battle tank, and so you can not expect it to be lightweight like Maruti 800, or speedy like a Ferrari, or comfortable like a limousine." In other words shoes are mostly comfortable, a little bit heavy, and very much durable - nothing else. I own a Woodland G 40777 which is still going strong after 9 years. Avoid buying fancy-looking or formal-looking woodland models - they are the worst, just because it is not at all Woodlands game.
The special features of most of the Woodland shoes I noticed are(1) shape of sole. It is designed in such a way that it wears little over years. Have tapered surface at front and back giving some rocker-bottom appearance which also helps walking miles after miles. Heavy weight of the shoe also helps walking in uneven surfaces.(2) grip. the TPR material provides superior grip over any surface be it polished tiles/marble, mud, gravel, stone, or anything. You cannot slip wearing these shoes AND you can not make walking sound. It is amazing to see these heavy boots are absolutely silent.(3) Comfort. I would rather prefer to say protection than comfort OR full protection with comfort. Believe me, once a maruti van(omni) ran over my toe while I was wearing the shoe and I suffered only minor bruises. If it had been any other shoes, I might have fractured 2-3 fingers of my toe. If you prefer comfort over protection buy some Reebok or Nike sports shoes at half of the price.(4) Price. Most unfriendly feature of these shoes. Almost all the models cost over 4K, some of them are over 8-9K. Not at all affordable.
