Have you ever felt like walking....?
How often have you heard the phrase, Walk your way. I am sure, quite often. We all have walked, run, jogged, leaped or traversed time and distance using our feet. Not very long back I realized that without walking I shall not be able to reach anywhere. I have to take the first step. For every additional step that I take brings me closer to my destination. To see the light at the end of this long tunnel, or in other words to ensure success, I feel it becomes mandatory for me to choose the right friends for my feet. In fact for that matter, I should choose everything right for myself.
Fashion or comfort for feet.....?
I like Salman Khan on screen but I have stopped liking my Red Tape Shoes. Wonder why? Sometime back Sallu Bhai made an appearance in a silly Red Tape advertisement.....Fashion for your feet. Till the day I had seen this ad I was happy with my pair of shoes, for they were comfortable, snazzy and cool. But after seeing Salmans fizzed out promotion for RT I realized....Red Tape lacks something....Style. Why on earth did they make such a silly ad? (see how advertisiement rules our decisions).
I am not sure if there is a moral behind this story, but I am sure a good advt goes a long way in helping the brands sales and recognition. Anyways RT is not a big brand, but the slick advt made it even smaller.
For those confused with my ancedote, remember, settle for comfort not fashion. And if fashion comes with comfort, consider yourself lucky.
Enter Woodland.......
Now, Woodland is a different genre of shoes. They are not formal but have a more rugged personality. Meant for those who like to be on the wild side of life. I bought a pair of brown suede woodland shoes, with a thick sole. I bought this shoe the moment I saw it. The price then was close to two thousand bucks. Almost a year and four months down the lane Woodland started showing signs of fatigue. However it was only the sole which was crumbling, the upper part was still intact. (the upper part was pure leather while the sole was of a different material). Given the fact that I walk and run a lot, the performance was not bad. But I was not satisfied as I paid a lot of bills to buy Woodland. So I wanted to explore further. Even though I could have used the shoe for a few months more, I decided to cut the sole. And once I had done that I saw to my horror the hollow that lay inside. From outside the sole looks thick, while inside it is hollow!!!!
The shoe was not bad, but the hollow sole gave me the impression of being cheated. I paid for something I did not get. Everytime I wore those pair of brown leather, I felt nice and comfortable. Wherever I wlaked, it walked with me, helping me cross boundaries, obstacles, and cities (a few). I was in love with my shoes....until the sole gave away.
Anyone who buys woodland shoes, take care while paying those bills. Looks for cracks and crevices, loose soles, etc. Otherwise Woodland is really nice.
