When we decided to go to Wayanad, we didnot have much idea about the place and staying options. After some googling, decided to choose Woodlands since its in the town. Booked through phone prior to our travel. No advance remittance required. The hotel is just 5 minutes walk from the bus stop in Kalpetta. We had booked for double room. Its charged Rs. 950 with complimentary breakfast. Our room was in second floor. There is no lift. Room had two double cot beds neatly arranged, a small table and 2 chairs, TV, telephone and wall cupboard. There was just enough space to walk around the cot in the room. The bathroom is too small. It has 24 hrs hot water facility. The breakfast buffet was very good with spongy idlis, crisp dosa, bread toast, corn flakes, poori etc.(There was some more which I don’t recollect now).
The hotel has two separate restaurants for veg and non-veg. Though there was hardly anyone in the veg restaurant, the service was slow and food was not that tasty, it was passable. Its hard to find vegetarian restaurants in Wayanad. And we had visited during Ramzan. I found one vegetarian hotel in Kalpetta town, but was closed due to Ramzan. So the veg restaurant at Woodlands was very useful for us.
We had asked the hotel people to arrange cab for sightseeing. The cab driver was very good and quite knowledgeable about Wayanad and shared the history and life style of the people there.
