A couple weeks back stumbled into woodside inn at colaba. it was one of the stopovers of a nice long friday evening planned out with friends. The ambience was very relaxing, the decor to match an English country side pub. Located strategically just at the beginning of colaba that you dont really need to go further down to look for anything better. The restaurant cum pub is divided into two floors, the bar opens just as you enter with some soothing english rock playing in the background (you dont get to hear such good music very often). The house serves a lot if the popular alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. Its a very good place to try out some of the draught beers for those of you who like to experiment with drinks. My personal favorite was the diaquirry and the gimlet. Although the menu may seem quite limited it is refreshing debarred of the standard stuff. Staff recommendations in our case turned out to be multi repeat orders with the Sariska Chicken and the Grilled Rawas being very popular.
A host of pastas and salads along with veggie starters like stuffed mushrooms. For those of you who indulge in continental food will get to have a slight taste of it here. The interiors of the place are adorned with pictures of old mumbai decorating the walls. Some of these are for sale as well. The desserts are good with cheese cakes and some dark temptation pastries. Also on the list of specials for the day was the Baileys cold coffee with Baileys Irish cream delight and a dollop of ice cream - a perfect closure for the day.
All in all the 3 hours spent were all value for money and time and place. Definitely recommended for everyone who likes a small but cozy joint. The only hindrance could be the space as it could get pretty crowded at peak times and for those of you who like to be connected all the time the house serves free WI-FI.
