Wrestling is worth checking out...

Well, I began watching wrestling about ten years ago, back in the days where the Harts, Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker reigned supreme. But I was not always a huge fan, infact I, myself was a big critic before I checked it out.

It was 1991, and I had a few friends who had taken a liken to wrestling, in particular the WWF. They all advised me to give it a go. I had been brought up with the message that wrestling is fake and all an act, so I refused to give it a try, as I thought it would be a huge waste of time.

About 6 months later, I was doing a little channel skipping when I found a WWF backstage ’’skit’’. At first, I didn’t know what it was, I assumed it was a film. I got interested as this skit went on for about ten minutes, then it flicked to an arena where a wrestler was making his entrance, I was amazed at the plots and I decided that maybe, I would watch it this once.

I found myself literally engrossed in my television set, I watched on and learnt more about the sport in the coming weeks, watching old tapes. Within three months, I had more knowledge than my friends, stretching back to the 1980s. I began talking with life long fans, who were amazed when I told them I had only started watching half a year previously.

So what I’m saying, is don’t judge wrestling by what you have been told or imagine it to be. Judge it yourself, all I advise is that you watch it once. I guarantee that atleast 50% will immediately change your mind, and become regular fans.

People always ask me why I watch something so fake, my reply is simple. Wrestling isn’t fake, it’s exaggerated. The WWF superstars put there body on the line every week to please the fans, they get hurt, but they make the pain look more than it seems. If you tell me, how Mick Foley fell 16’ and through a table in 1998 without getting hurt a little, I’ll pay you $1, 000. So I just ask that you give wrestling a chance, and make your own mind up!!!
