Pro wrestling is as some blurbs put it, for entertainment purposes only. I like the story about Vince McMahon, when Ted Turner called him up and said, Im in the wrestling business. Vince said, Great. Im in the entertainment business. That is all it is about.
Sure, some people get caught up in it but dont they do that in any sport? What harm is there in turning off your mind and just enjoying something for its entertainment value?
I have heard many people say that it is fake, that the matches are scripted, and I say, So what? Its exciting to me. I like the action and some of the characters are way out there, men and women, which makes it more enjoyable to me.
If you think they are not athletes, then go to a gym where these fake wrestlers work out and see how much they put into their training. These people do an unbelievable amount of training.
Some of the injuries they get in the ring are not all fake. Some of them are very, very real. Mistakes happen. Sometimes they miss a cue and what is supposed tp be a glancing blow is a full force shot. Real injuries do occur. And whether the match is scripted or not, the pain is still as painful as an injury in any other sport.
I would not pass up one of my favorite sports to watch this wrestling, but I will watch it and enjoy watching it. Sometimes the action is such that you tend to forget how staged it is and sometimes it just does not matter. It is action and excitement and sometimes they dont do what is expected and things turn around and you wonder what is coming next. That is just part of the game.
I worked at the RCA dome in my hometown and these people have performed there. Believe me there are thousands of people that really eat this stuff up.
As I said, it is just entertainment. Sometimes you just have to turn off the brain, open the eyes real wide and simply enjoy.
