Mouthshut.com has got to do nothing with the mouth but only with its member’s writing and their views.YES, its all about writing and reading reviews.Say reviews, reviews and more reviews. This is where you can add your thoughts about any product mentioned up here. The name of the product would be given and all you have to do is to write a review on that.
Up here, you can review a product, a movie, an album, and what not. But your review topic is confined to the listing they have provided. But how to write a review? Well, writing a review is a very simple job. Choose the topic, search for it, go to ’’Add your opinion’’ and type out whatever you think of writing about the product you are reviewing. If this is what you are thinking then probably you have to think again.
Writing a review: A review can be written on any of the products that are up for the grabs in the website.(I mean for reviewing) Say if someone has requested for a review of the Indian Cricket Team, then you can go to add your opinion and write your review.
But there are some important things to be followed before writing a review, while writing and after writing.
1. Reading Other’s Opinions: First and foremost, before writing a review, you have to read other’s opinions. Only then a good enough insight into the reviewing product would be obtained. Not only that, you’ll have a clear idea of what you are going to write, how you are going to write and accordingly you can format your review.
Even while choosing to read a review, my suggestion would be to pick up the best reviews, from people like spooks, shrikantan, pooj, jilmil, loverboy, ranjran, and many more, who are excellent writers, so that you’ll get a clear idea about the product.
2. Writing the review:- After reading other reviews a good enough idea is obtained. Now you can indulge in writing.But again, writing should be such that it would have a comprehensive information about the product. More so, the product should be discussed in detail and care should be taken for avoiding errors and repetitions.
Removing errors would definitely help in the rating of a review. Choosing the right category is as important as the topic itself. Usage of bold and italics wherever necessary is very essential.Once written, the review should be checked for spellings and edited accordingly.
3. Reading Comments:- Comments form an integral part of any review. This is where you would know what our friends in mouthshut think about the review. Therefore the comments should be read completely and if the review is to be edited by the suggestions of the members, steps should be taken according. Reciprocation to the comments are very necessary for the success of your review.
Some tips from my side: These are some of the things I learnt from my fellow members and friends in MS.
~ The review should contain the genuine thoughts of the reviewer alone.
~ As of any information about the extracts in the review, should be mentioned.
~ The contents should be free of spelling mistakes and repetitions.
~ The review should be neatly formatted and lucidly written. Making paragraphs are very important.
~ Usage of bold and italics to highlight the points you think are important, is very necessary.
~ Criticism of any kind, about other reviews, should be avoided.
~ The product should be comprehensively reviewed leaving no loop-holes whatsoever.
~ Above all the review should reflect what you think of the product rather than what the product is.
Once, you have written a review, just wait for people to read and comment on your reviews. Only then will you know the flaws in the review, if any, which you can edit accordingly. If there aren’t anything of that sort, then congrats. You have a successful review up your sleeve.
One Major Drawback:- A major drawback in mouthshut is that you can’t write two reviews on the same topic. So ultimate care should be taken to give all the details concerning the topic in the review, while writing it. If need be, you have to up-date your review and edit it correspondingly. Because of this, choosing the right product for reviewing is also necessary.
As a final note, I would like to add that writing a review is not everything. Reading the comments on your review is as important as writing. Criticism if any should be taken in the right spirit and that’ll not only make you a better writer but also give you scope for improvement.
