The art of writing a review on MOUTHSHUT.com

Writing a review in Mouthshut.com is like buiding a house. When a man wants a house built, he first makes up his mind what kind of a house he wants-of what material(brick or stone or wood), how many rooms, with one or two storeys…etc. Then, he or his architect for him, must draw the plan of the house to scale for, if he starts building without a plan he will soon get into a confusion. So, before you begin to write a review you must plan out what you want to say about the subject in the form of short outlines.

For example, suppose you want to write a review on your favorite foreign destination, you might begin describing its climate, people, places to see, where to stay, transportation facilities, shopping & other useful features about that place.Even, I did one mistake while writing a review on India.Instead of describing all the features mentioned above, I got little emotional & wrote why we Indians should feel proud about our motherland.Nevertheless, I still managed to get HR for my review…..(now plzz don’t go & re-rate it again)lol.

Now, when the builder has drawn his plan for the house, he must collect his materials(bricks, stone or wood, iron etc)-reckoning the qualities he will want for his creation. In the same manner, you will have to collect materials for your review(not the bricks, stone or wood, iron) but ideas, illustrations, arguments & facts. There are two ways of doing this:

1)You think about the subject yourself & let your mind do all the hard work.

or

2)You can refer to some books or websites to get facts & figures & to get more information about that topic(it’s a bit risky though).

Ok, as the ideas come, write them down briefly on a piece of paper in any order, until you think you have enough information.I prefer making a word file on the topic I select to write. Then arrange them under the heads of your outline. You may find some ideas you have collected unsuitable & some to be mere repetition of others, so choose the best & omit the rest.

Now then, when the builder has drawn his plan & collected his material he can begin to build the house-brick by brick, stone upon stone, according to his plan. Thus, when you have made your outlines & collected your information, you can begin to write your review word by word, sentence by sentence, according to your outline.Use simple words & short sentences & divide your review in to suitable paragraphs.

And remember that “what is worth doing, worth doing well”.
