The second sequel in the X-Men series adapted from the Marvel comic series of the same name, this movie does not disappoint.
The mutants journey in a world filled with discrimination and distrust against their kind continues, when all they strive for is a world united.. to be at par with the other human beings and not to be treated as a ‘disease’. They face what appears to be another obstacle in their path in the form of a new drug which promises to ‘cure’ mutants and revert them to the normal state. A violent upheaval of emotions takes place as old friends return, unexpectedly lives are lost, and heart rending choices have to be made. The usual gang, Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), Storm (Halle Berry), Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) and their protégés face their rival, Magneto (Ian McKellan), along with an invincible force, a nemesis that they never thought they would have to deal with.
Jackman is great as the gruff Wolverine who is filled with unspoken passion. Halle Berry does justice to her role yet again and McKellan is fantastic (as usual!) as the evil genius. Kelsey Grammar is unexpectedly good as the seemingly out of character (for him) ‘Beast’.
The special effects and stunts are brilliant and keep you transfixed. Some segments of the movie make you jump with astonishment while some make you laugh out loud.. The end is poignant and perfectly fitting…
Overall a very good watch though you could say the second one (X2) was better… Thoroughly enjoyable and exhilarating!
My rating-9/10
P.S.- Note to all: patiently wait till the credits finish rolling.. yes, all of them.. There is one scene right after this that will honestly leave you wondering.. I’m sure at least 9/10ths of the people who saw the movie missed it!
