Picture quality

coming to the picture quality really dazzling quality. In that sense, Mi TV is far behind the offers of Sony, LG or Samsung. To be clear, it’s still a big TV for the price, I’m just warning you not to set your expectations too high.

The colors and the contrast on the Mi TV 4 are decent. If you are upgrading from cheaper Vu deals, etc., you will really see a fair difference here. However, it looks nothing like the Samsung QLED and is a far cry from the Sony and LG OLED TVs.

I adjusted the settings a bit, but I could often see the screen blurring. The uniformity of the screen is not the strong point of My TV 4 and you can not stop seeing this if you’ve seen it once.

The Mi TV produces decent levels of black, but is severely hampered by cloudiness. The Panasonic Shinobi Pro series produces better contrast and colors, but only supports 1080p resolution.

For the uninitiated, cloudiness is the effect where brighter patches are seen on parts of the screen. The screen here is also reflective, which means it works best in dark rooms. You will see a noticeable difference in the quality of the image in bright rooms, or even if there is a little natural light on the screen.

In general, although I personally expected more, the Mi TV 4 is certainly a good TV. If Xiaomi can sell this anywhere around the Rs 60, 000 mark, it’s still a competitive offer. 4K HDR TVs in India generally sell for more than 1 lakh of Rs, so the value proposition would be hard to ignore.

Audio quality

For small and medium-sized rooms, Mi TV 4 is sufficient. The audio is not very detailed, but it works to watch television in general. Like most TVs in India, it does the job of watching movies or videos, but if your ears are better tuned, you can add speakers or a home theater unit.

You can not tune the audio quality very much. The TV supports Dolby audio, but the configuration does not make a big difference here. The "voice enhancement" option makes voices louder, while the surround sound option does not seem to make a big difference. There is an equalizer however, which can be useful.
