I was taken by all the hype and publicity around Xiomi Redmi, so I didn’t really properly read the reviews before deciding to buy. I trusted Flipkart and ordered the phone. And, I sorely regret it.
After using Redmi Note 4G for 3 weeks now, I can tell from my experience that this handset has some SERIOUS QUALITY ISSUES and shame on Flipkart and Xiomi to push such defective products on gullible customers who fall for such tactics of creating artificial scarcity.
The premise of online shopping is that the customer trusts the online seller, and the customer trusts that the product that he/she is ordering will be free of defect and provide a reasonable service as expected/advertised of the product.
Because when ordering online the buyer cannot touch, see and hold the product.
When we buy from a physical store we can operate the handset, see its feature, see the camera etc and then make the buy or not buy decision.
But on online site we just trust the online seller.
If the product is not good then the online seller should take it back and refund you.
This is the review of the second handset I received after the replacement of the first handset.
The first handset I had received had display issues and the display used to go off randomly.
I was advised to do soft reset and then hard reset of the handset, but after trying all of that the problem persisted and I was sent a replacement.
I ended up wasting significant amount of time doing followup and reset business.
Also after the hard reset I had lost all my app, including the google apps, office apps and Mi tools, even the Google play store app.
Overall it was not so pleasant experience.
I received the second handset and has been using it for few days now.
Unfortunately, the second handset is not great either.
The phone heats up significantly some time when I have kept it in pocket while driving or even during meetings.
I realized this after the phone heated up a lot couple of times.
This is a major cause of concern because the phone can catch fire or explode.
This is a health hazard.
This might be a rare case, but it speaks very poorly of Xiomi quality because there other issues with the phone.
Another problem that I am seeing now after using it for 2 weeks is that some times the display
goes off immediately after I have disconnected a call, this happens randomly and even after I have set a time-out of 30 seconds.
The phone camera is no good. The images taken under flash come out dark.
Are there any settings to change that?
Why is it that other cheaper phones have cameras which work perfectly fine with flash?
What is even more hilarious that the setup exe in the phone is in Chinese language,
that shows that they have not done proper testing and quality check.
Also, another bug I noticed was that every time I receive a SMS, the phone shows it from a fixed particular contact and every time I find that the SMS is not from that contact.
Is that the best quality of software you can make?
Redmi Note 4G sucks.
And, Flipkart, is this your best? pushing such shoddy products on your trusting customers?
I have lost my trust in Flipkart after this incident. Fortunately for consumers there are other online portals whose service and return/replacement policies have been satisfactory till now.
Flipkart you lost one customer in me and I will make sure that I educate as many people as I can about my experience.
