A new movie, Vanity Fair, directed my Ms Mira Nair. She is acclaimed as one of the best directors. She has directed some award winning movies such as Salaam Bombay, Mississippi Masala and Monsoon wedding. I have enjoyed all of these movies. I am a great fan of her.
Vanity fair is based on a Novel written by Mr. William Makepeace Thackeray. This novel takes you back to the 19th century (1800). At that the London was quite different than what is to-day. This is a movie with lots of colorful clothes and design clothes.

This is a story of a poor girl, with high hopes to get into high society of London. She also want to go to India some day. Beck sharp (Reese Witherspoon) was clever, energetic from her childhood. Becky sharp is a daughter of starving Artist . Her father was selling her mother’s portraite for 4 guineas but she managed to sell for 10 guineas to the same customer.
Becky sharp and Amelia were good friends from the school days. Becky sharp also tried to be on Amelia’s side. Both of them studied in Miss Pinkerton Academy.
After leaving the academy Becky Sharp got the job in the house of a wealthyman Sir Pitt Crawley. Becky married the soldier son of Sir Pitt Crawley, soldier Rawdon Crawly. Marriage had great ups and downs. They had to send away their son. Bills were getting bigger. Aristocract Steyne took advantage and lured becky to sing song in the high society. There is touch of little bit of bollywood Stayen put her husband in the jail. Took Becky to her house with bad intentions. Her husband could not tolerate this scene. She tried to explain him. He did not listen. As usual men do not listen.
War broke out. Napolean attack London. There were lot of miseries in London Becky saved the marriage of her friend Amelia. This was the opportunate time for Beck Sharp to go to India. One of her friend was going to India. He was very fond of her. She went with him to India. With the Song from Rajasthan she was welcomed in India with her friend with a ride on the Elephant.
