The much awaited flick with a killer combination of an ace director and the finest actors is turning out to be a damp squib at the box office.
It is a story of a widowed father Raj (Jackie Shroff)who tries to bridge the communication gap with his three daughters. Enter the rich and flamboyant Ronit( Hrithik Roshan) who stands by the family like a true friend in times of trials and triumphs. Cupid strikes and Ronit falls in love with Rajs daughter Isha(Kareena Kapoor. But Ronits rich family has other plans and try to marry him off as part of a business deals. Isha like an obedient daughter complies with her fathers wishes and sacrifices her love. Eventually as happens in all Hindi movies, love triumphs after a series of ordeals and heartbreaks and the lovers re-unite.
The story of Yaadein could have done with better treatment. Subhash Ghais direction has failed to meet its expected standards. Kareena emerges as a mature actress and not just a pretty face.Hrithik once again steals the show and carries the movie.
The music of the movie is strictly okay except for the title song that is hummable. However the movie has exquisite locations and is technically sound.
Yaadein makes you sit back and remember a time when Subhash Ghai movies were classic entertainers. Ram Lakhan, Karz, Saudagar and even the recent Taal will all go down in film history but Yaadein will not be remembered after a while.
