I have been using Yahoo Messenger since it first came out. I just upgraded the other day to the newest version which has many new features included. Some of their new features are:
<B>Webcams</B>
Now not only can you talk to your friends instantly but now you can see each other while you are talking (as long as you both have a webcam of course). <B>Voice Chat</B>
Now you can also hear each other talk through Yahoo! Messenger along with see them. Yahoo! makes this very simple and this can save you money on your phone bills also.
<B>IMVironments</B>
This has to be my favorite of the new features. You can change the background of your messages with a variety of different backgrounds, including:
Dilbert
Snoopy
Hello Kitty
and many many more. I personally like the fish tank that they have and they are adding more each week. These can be changed really simply with a click on your chat window. The only problem is that to use them the person your talking to has to have a newer version of Messenger.
<B>Improved Firewall Support</B>
Now there is even more security for your computer when you use messenger.
<B>Download and Installation</B>
The download can take about 10 minutes depending on your connection speed and it also downloads Yahoo! Companion for you at the same time. Installation is also very simple and they take you through every step. If you don’t have a Yahoo! ID then you can also get one during the installation.
<B>Old Features</B>
Of course they didn’t change their basic features so everything is an improvement and didn’t take anything away from the original features.
<I>Instant Messages</I> - of course this is always very fast and the best way to chat with old friends or make new ones.
<I>Mail Alert</I> - this has always been a great feature for me to use because it lets me know when I have new mail in my Yahoo! mail account without me checking every few minutes.
<I>Online Friends List</I> - what a great feature. I can use Yahoo! Messenger from any computer with an internet connection and my friends list will be there waiting for me without me having to add it to that computer so I can talk to friends from anywhere.
<I>Searching and Adding Friends</I> - Yahoo! makes this very simple and you can find your old friends (as long as they have a Yahoo! ID or make new friends by their names, location or interests so you can meet people who have the same interests as you.
<B>Conclusion</B>
This is a great program to stay in contact with your friends or make new friends. So if you like to chat in chat rooms and meet new people this is a program to try.
