Yahoo India Domains - inflexible, worst support

Working with Yahoo India customer support has been a rude shock for me.

I had two domains registered with them and I wanted a hosting package for one domain and a simple domain registration and forward package for the other. Sorry - Yahoo India doesn’t have that fliexibility. I get an an e-mail that my credit card will be charged for both domains on due date. You must purchase hosting for each domain that you have with them. While in Yahoo US, you can pay for a domain just$10 annually. So, I decided to cancel the hosting service and transfer the domains to another service provider.

Fun starts now. I called their number 99001 99001. Message: "Please call us between 9-5 Mon-Fri" or something like that. Fair enough, I thought. So, I called on Monday. "Press 1 if you are small business customer. ." Ok, I pressed 1. Now? "Press 1 if you are an existing customer. ." Ok, 1 again. Now the surprise:’Please send us an emil at in-cs-ysb@.". Hang up. beep. beep. So, that is customer support for you. Go through several menus to be asked to send an email! You can’t speak to a human being if you are an existing customer! If you select the option "New customer", they will happily let you talk to a human, who will handle sales. Nice, isn’t it?

So, I sent and e-mail asking them not to renew my domain when it is due. No reply for a coule of days. Sent another one. No reply. I called 99001 99001 and selected the "New customer" option to get to speak to someone. He asked me to send another mail. Ok, I did it. This time it worked. I got an email that the service is canceled for non-payment! Isn’t that nice too?

Yahoo canceled my hosting serice and domain management panels with reason "Non Payment" - whereas I have paid for 1 year in advance. I asked them to restore these till 1 year term expires, but no response.

Since then, I have been writing to them almost everyday for my authorization code for the domain, so that I can transfer it to another provider. But no one responds. This is "Leaders in Internet" for you. May be I am too small for their "Small business". I will never buy anything from Yahoo again**.

Update: Don’t know if Yahoo looks here for feedback on their service, but within a couple of hours of posting this review, I got two seperate responses from Yahoo! That is good! May be just a coincidence, but thanks!*
