Yamaha CruxR a very obedient bike which I was bought by my brother in march 2003 as soon as I attained age of majority and acquired a driving license.my father has a 1978 rajdoot in which I learnt motorcycle riding and as every teenager I needed a modern bike for myself .initially I had an idea on HH splendor on my mind which was a hot cake then but thank god iam honestly happy choosing CRUX R. I had clocked 75k kms on it .it has good spares due to which I had replaced clutch wire and clutch plate only once after it clocked 58k kms.
I regularly change engine oil between 2250 to 2500kms.its also has a decent braking ability and ground clearance is not bad . and about pick up it is not behind any of its class vehicles which makes maneuvering easy. You can manage in 4th gear even at speeds as low as 30 kmph which is very good considering the peak hour traffic (3rd gear at similar speeds with a pillion) I hav not driven much with pillion. crux reliabity made me to travel a lot. I had been to ladakh in my crux in 2008 and came down driving all the way from north to my home town in tamil nadu which happened to be 3500kms approx. It took me 5 days without any problem with one day rest at sagar, madhay pradesh.and for ur suprise it did it solo.
I had two new spare tubes and puncture kit.i learnt how to do minor repairs and repair a puncture.i had also have done numerous short runs exceeding 250kms a day. now(2010 aug) after 7yrs and 70k kms on odo it is making a little engine noise which I suspect it needs a engine rehaul till date it gives me fuel efficiency of 54kms on city and 56kms on highways.
I had a mileage of 62 kms per liter till I clocked around 23k kms and gradually it has reduced now.also I hav a mechanic whom I beleive and dont change.i had ridden my motorcycle in almost 12states(tamil nadu, karnataka, kerala, andhra, M.P, U.P, rajsthan, delhi, haryana, punjab, himachal pradesh and jammu and kashmir).it is not a matter of covering number of states but I rode completely trouble free.last year 2009 I purchased a new honda unicorn which failed to please me(compared to yamaha crux).i dont know why honda unicorn failed to please me even though it is a advanced motorcycle compared to yamaha crux with absolutely smooth engine.i still hav the crux which I prefer a lot than the infant unicorn.this bike has made my name suffixed to its name with all of my friends. I had rode my crux in rains, heavy rains, very heavy rains, in sun and in hot humid conditions, on lonely highways, in forests and midnights and by gods grace it has not let me down. also iam not sure of the current model cruz which has a modified engine casing and changed carburettor model.if u dont consider outward aspects like style, looks or fanciness I would recommend this bike for its reliability and ruggedness for frequent users and carrying loads.
My Rating for crux is 4 and half
