Reliale Bike for City Commuters

I purchased Yamaha Crux on 5th Dec 11 from the Yamaha company showroom in Pune at 41572/-  . Paid additional amount of Rs 777/- for additional 3 years warranty.

As an office-goer, would use this bike for mostly intra-city travel. So was looking for the below parameters -

  • Reliability

  • Non-bulky vehicle

  • Kitana deti hai? (Mileage)

  • Proven quality

  • Brand name

With the feedback I received online and offline, this is definitely a reliable bike. Many of my friends purchased higher CC bike out of passion but later craved to return to lower CC. When Petrol prices are touching new highs, Mileage matters. Crux scores here. Also, , no matter how good their aero-dynamics is, the fatigue prevails when you drive heavy vehicles for long duration. With Crux, you really don’t feel weight. This bike comes from Yamaha, which is a trusted brand.

One may found Crux look as little out of fashion. To me , it was sober and clean. I, however, was still skeptical as it is not seen in Pune as much as other Yamaha bikes or its competitors like Splendor or passion pro. I talked to virtually every Crux owner I have seen on road. All were happy with this. Also, there were little worry about regular service and spare part availability; Thankfully, Yamaha offered additional warranty at nominal cost. :-)

And so I purchased Crux. In the early days, starting was little difficult in the cold. Had to use choke always. After 3 weeks, this problem seems to have resolved on its own. Gear lever also seemed hard initially and I got it tweaked little from Showroom mechanic .Completed ~400 KM and I guess mileage is ~60 kmpl. Hope to see more after first servicing.

One noticeable downside with Crux is relatively poor suspension. (I used to ride my brother’s Honda shine and you can notice the difference here easily) . Owner’s manual says that  this setting can be adjusted and one can set suspension to "Soft’ mode.

Finally, do I recommend this bike?  Big Yes, if you need a regular commuter bike with value for your hard earned money.
