Reliable and Efficient workhorse

I am using the Yamaha Crux since almost 7 years. I purchased it in June 2002 and as of now my bike has completed 43000 kms.

My experience with the bike has been that it is very reliable and efficient. It is very steady and sturdy and very fuel efficient, still giving me between 60-65 kms per litre in a city like Hyderabad. Regular maintenance is all you need to do. I spent some amount on spares over this period but it is very reasonable totaling to around Rs 2500 in all which includes new battery, rear tyre and chain and sprocket.

Initially I experienced some starting problems especially on cold mornings, but now it has been resolved, you just need to get the knack of starting it with choke on and warming it up for a few seconds after that it behaves like a sweet obedient baby. Many a time I got tempted to replace my bike, but every time I look at my bike and take a ride I change my mind.

The drawbacks of buying a Yamaha bike is that you have to cope with lack of proper service centers, difficulty in procuring spares and comparatively poor resale value. But these drawbacks get faded away once you enjoy the quality of ride and experience the efficiency of these bikes. If you ask me for a recommendation for this bike I would definitely recommend it. It’s initial cost is low, maintenance is cheap, it has good pick up and gives good mileage. What else do you need.
