I am also one of the enthusiastic youngster like you when I bought my Yamaha Enticer three years ago. I like to share some of my experinces with you which will help to decided which brand you choose to buy either new or old.
BREAKS:-
Breaks and straight line stability are legendry yamaha. when you pull your breaks at full control it will stops before a feet well in advance of your victim.
Cornering:-
little bit filmsy with the 2.75 x 18 thin rubber tyre on front, so I replaced it with 3.50 x 16 java tyre. now on I can slice a meter of oversteer while cornering.
Fuel economy:-
45 Kmpl - 47 Kmpl in city
50 kmpl - 55 kmpl in high way
Riding quality:-
Rider - Little bit stiffer when you ride alone.
pillion - usually fell in sleep with the back rest and wake them to avoid falling from the bike is a constant nusiance.
with pillion bike feels like car and can go 50 plus KMS non stop before your back burnt in to fire.
Price:-
Rs. 55, 000 on road in tamilnadu madurai at 2003 march

what ???........ Guys really I am middle group of family boy
now my bikes costs me around one lakh approx (i can prove it if any body want I ll show you my bill that I filed)
I am not harsh Rider either. Just little bit un lucky to get a good engine.
All are done but still the bikes need more care to keep in shape.
As I told in my title I am ready to loose my beloved partner called Enticer and go for honda ( sorry folks yamahas R&D and service peoples forced me to take this decision)Because of the following reasons.
Yamaha builts some great wonderful bikes all over the world and failed to give support and service to it.
Their Strategy are very weak while approaching a crowded and cut throat market.
Every body in the market makes money but yamaha makes through their spares suppliments which means over all reliabilty is less as compared to honda.
(guys we are ready to spent money on our beloved bikes but not frequently)
- Before the launch of enticer, yamaha india may not test the bikes characters with vigorous test condition, I mean it because if they did it means they dont have to pull back such a wonderful bike from the market.
(The Reason is such a big tyres in rear generates more grip as reflect in rolling resistence which dramatically mirrored in chain, Sprockets and clutch wear. so put some stronger stuff in that area before or after launch)
- I saw in a magazine which describes problem per hundered bikes (pphb). Yamaha scores 60 % in 100 cc bikes engine segment and 71 % in 125 cc bikes segment. ALAS!! these yamaha peoples delivered some 30% of faulty engines what??.... why ??...
is it true.... Belive it or not it is true and the survey is based on the consumer reviews. what happen to the yamaha and its team only god will tell us.
think about our yamaha today. Really sorry they ve lost their grounds.
come on yamaha.....!
come on.
do some real serious reliable bikes which make us fall in love with yamaha Again.
hope with your up coming models of 150 gladiator and 250 fazer.
wish you all the best.
