Is it really new

Looking at the technical specifications the Yamaha Fazer is nothing but old wine in a new bottle.

The engine is the same as found on the YBX, YD and Enticer with a few minor tweaks. The bikes though reasonable performers have failed to find market acceptance.

The looks evoke a strong response. Some will love it and others will hate it. Beauty as they say lies in the eyes of the beholder.

In terms of power and acceleration this bike in no way out performs the other contenders in the 125cc segment such as the Wind, Victor and Freedom Prima. In fact all the other contenders in this segment have a 5 gear option which is lacking on the Yamaha Fazer.

The Fazer comes with a larger drum brake than most of its competitors but then most of the competition do have a disc brake option.

When it comes to pricing the on road Mumbai prices are as follows:

Bajaj Wind 125 Drum Rs. 49, 240/- (5 Gear)

Hero Honda Ambition 135 Drum KS Rs. 50, 193/- (5 Gear)

LML Freedom Prima 125 Drum Rs. 49, 540/- (4 Gear)

LML Freedom Prima 125 Disc Rs. 52, 080/- (5 Gear)

TVS Victor GLX 125 Rs. 50, 150/- (5 Gear)

Yamaha Fazer Rs. 51, 800/- (4 Gear)

Actual fuel economy is more or less in line with the competition.
