I had been toying with the idea of buying a bike for the past 1.5 years or so. My criteria was always to go for performnce bikes and not for those bikes which are meant for commuting. So mileage considerations were never part of my decision making process.
I had taken test rides of bajaj pulsar 180, 220, karizma 220, cbz xtreme etc. My initial inclination was for karizma zmr the FI which has been launched recently. But unfortunately in Surat, Gujarat it seems that there is a shortage of delivery of this bike for the past 2 months and hence the 2 dealers have stopped taking on bookings. This is one thing which I would like my forum friends to share with me, is there some major manufacturing issue with zmr and is this shortage applicable in other cities and states?
Anyway, for yamaha I was initally keen on FZ because of its naked beastly looks and positive reviews from users.
I did like it during my test drive, but when it came to booking the bike somehow the looks of the fazer impresed me, and since apart from the front fairing, and visor, it is essentially a FZ, I took the plunge, and got one.
It has been 3 days since I got it, and it sure is a head turner on the roads. It has good riding stability, but is not that much more flickable as compared to FZ due to the bulk of the fairing. Also I have observed something peculiar which I would like other users to share with me. It is the low pickup in 3 rd gear.
While coming down from 5th to 4th and 3rd, ideally 3rd should pull the machine faster and more easily than in 4th, but my experience is that the bike pulls faster in 4th than in 3rd?.
Finally, I alslo discussed the racer kit mods with them and the total mods with the exhuast, filter, ABS etc works out to 45K. I am mulling over going for the racer kit mods, since cost is not the issue for me. Any incremental performance tweaking is welcome for me as I thirst for sheer performance. I did not go for R15 as it is not ideally meant for city, but for highways. since this has better torque, I opted for FAZER.
happy driving guys.
